Topic review - DKM Graf Zeppelin airwing
Author Message
Post subject:  DKM Graf Zeppelin airwing  Reply with quote
Ok so I just completed the DKM Blucher 1/350 from Trumpeter, which means it’s time for something new, or next on the list.

I’m going to take a step back from the large ships and work on one of the smaller projects, the airwing for the German Aircraft carrier.

All this will again be in 1/350 scale, the Trumpeter kit includes 4 Aircraft 5 of each and unfortunately they haven’t released additional kits yet, hope it will be soon though.

Reading up on the development of the Graf Zeppelin the designers worked on choosing the correct or most effective airwing for the carrier, they originally chose the BF-109, AR-195, JU-87 and the rival to the AR-195 the FI-167 which in tests outperformed the latter. Ultimately they settled on just two Aircraft the ME-109T which has proven itself as an air superiority fighter and the JU-87 for its durability and effectiveness as a dive bomber.

I am going to focus mainly on the ME-109T, JU-87 but will include a few FI-167 as a reconnaissance aircraft.

Unfortunately they molded the aircraft in solid grey so we will have to custom make clear cannopies for them.

File comment: First stage complete, have the fuselage put together of the three types of aircraft I’m focusing on and I’m making the mold for the canopies.
