Is the charge bagged or cased? (weight of powder and type would be interesting, as well)
What is projectile weight?

Hi,
I spent a day in the Central Naval Museum in St. Petersburg in early July. I took several photos of the 1/100 scale model of the Sverdlov that was on display. They can be seen at:

In order to see the photos you will need to join the group but it is free. The model is quite good and well detailed. However the platform around the top of the fighting top is rounded rather than rectangular. The model may have been built before the Sverdlov was finished and may represent an early version.

From the Airbase (as usual), it's a real goldmine there. They have an entire thread full of plans (for modelbuilders) along with a special forum for model warships (and there are some great builders there too!).

Hello Dave,
I'm not going to build a Sverdlov myself, just stumbled upon these pictures and thought some people might be interested.
The structure on those barrels is a cooling system that also keeps the barrels from vibrating too much after a shot, so that they can fire at a higher rate. (sometimes this is used on sniper riffles too).
Pff, ARH, I'm not interested in US DDs, bunch of rubbish cans, I will have a look for the starters to see how you build the hull though.

The 100mm/60 twin as fitted to the Sverdlov and the preceding Chapaev's looked remarkably like the German 10.5cm both gun mounts being triaxial.

I wish I had some of those pictures when I built Sverdlov some 13 years ago now at 1:96. For Sverdlov fans the new book has a few unpublished shots of Sverdlov back in 1957 and a a number of pictures of the model. Neptune What scale would you build Sverdlov.
