Thanks ModelMonkey!
I made some lockers as a test and it needs some more detail and finetuning. Also some more detail on the wall of the hangerdeck.

As has been said, there are cable ladders everywhere on ships. From my own experience working on a frigate (that was commisioned in 1967), every available wall surface has stuff. Lockers, damage control equipment, electrical cabinets and so on. Enjoy the build, I'll enjoy following

That looks most promising Bas! Great concept to show both hangar deck and flight deck in one composition! And being a bit familiar with your 1/35 scale work, I'm sure the results will be spectacular!

Your multi-level viewpoint is going to make a great display piece. Lots of nice work you’re doing here!

Thanks guys!
On youtube there are videos onboard the Ranger. There are indeed many, many tubes and wires etc. Still a lot of work to do.

'Bas', That Looks REALLY Good!!!! If, I may....there are MANY tubes, conduit, and lines in the overhang (the part that is the ceiling of our ships), generally it is located there for easier access for the crew, so they can repair damage, maintenance of those lines. They could cover the entire overhang, or a small corner of it....going from one compartment to another. Just thought I would mention it because of the Size of your build, take a look at some photos of interiors of military ships and look at the top of the pics, they probably show those 'tubes'. Otherwise, I look Very Forward on your build.....Good Luck!! Mario

CV-61 USS Ranger 1:72 |
|
|
This is a project I wanted to build for quite some time. I am new into shipmodel building and have zero knowledge of ships and maritime. Modelbuilding is something I do for about 25 years. First planes 1:72 and later on armor 1:35 scale. I was looking for a new challenge and I had the idea to build an intersection of an aircraft carrier in 1:72. Since I am a big fan of 60/70’s nam jets I was looking for some more info. When I found the USS Ranger Guy page with many photos I was was hooked. Then the next challenge was to find some kind of drawings of a Forrestal class carrier. Online there are some drawings of the USS Saratoga, so the fun could begin. I chose an interesting part of the ship, where I can put a lot of detail in it. After some thoughts it would be the end of the ship (hangardeck and catapult section) or the rear (jet shop/hangardeck/landing zone of the flight deck). I chose the last option. The diorama will show the intersection of een piece of the hangardeck, gallerydeck and the flightdeck.
On the diorama I will fit several planes, vehicles and crew. For now I have selected the next combination: - 2x A-7E Corsair 2 (Fujimi) - 1x A-4J Phantom (Fujimi) - 1x KA-6 Intruder (tanker) (Fujimi) - MD-3 Mule (Fujimi) - Fire Engine (Verlinden)
