Really great job!

Would you consider selling me a copy of your 3D printer crane?

Hi Nova, excellent work on both ships and the dock. Very well represented from the original photo, I have seen many times myself over the years. I have both kits in my stash to be made, thanks again. Cheers from AU.

I agree with all the prior comments - you really are being too hard on yourself. The models and the diorama are fantastic - you have faithfully captured the appearance of hard-driven warships in the yard. I wonder if the colour of the background in the pictures might be part of the reason you feel the images don't 'pop'? Personally, I think you have created a masterful piece of work! Bravo!

Eveything is relative...

You may not feel this is your best work, but to me and (judging by the previous replies) the rest of the world it is looks fabulous! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

I love your huge dioramas, but maybe now a small and simple project would give you a pleasant break? Just to recharge the batteries for the next ambitious diorama? ;)

Really lovely work. Active service warships are supposed to look dull and not stand out so I wouldn't worry about them looking dull.

Again, really fine work on the detailing and weathering of the ships. They look fantastic.

Looks stupendous! You can really get in close on those shots and all your details are crisp and weathering is authentic. Love the figures and rigging details as well. Nice dio as the cranes look like they are moving. Really crazy it has life.

I agree with Martin, and should add that I really like the details on those ships.

You are being way too hard on yourself. I find it to be quite good - very well done and inspiring. Congrats for finding the fortitude to stick with it and get it done. It was certainly worth the effort.

Also, let me know if you want me to move this to the completed forum.

Hello,

I finally finished the diorama on the Russian ships.

I had all finished for more than 4 months, but with the confinement and other health hazards, I only had the strength and desire to do the last part of the way to finish the Diorama.

I must say that I am a little disappointed with the result. I find it a bit dull, even though the cranes bring a bit of life to this diorama.

I had a problem to treat the horizontal surfaces, the advice of Noratlas (Sergio) helped me a lot to make the dock. I should have taken back the surfaces of the ships/ But not the current.

It must be said that I started this diorama more than 2 years ago and I am reaching saturation.

The acrylic gel is not completely dry yet.

The photos are not great, but I don't have an environment (against daylight) that gives a quality lighting to take pictures.

Hello,

The rest is coming. I'm almost at the end of the diorama assembly (setting up the figurines and the different elements of the platform). And currently I am in the process of setting up the antennas of all types.

I think the diorama will be finished in one or two weeks.

Friendly.
Alain.

THAT IS NICE... and that is an understatement... not only the constructionand weathering of the ships, but the whole picture with the cranes too... Here in Europe, suchrusty cranes wouldn't be allowed I suppose ;-)

Gorgeous, amazing model, so intricate weathering, I really think you nailed it, and the colour and everything. Bravo!

Hello to all of you,

I just finished the basic painting of the cranes. You're going to tell me that for having chosen such colorful colors, I've abused the booze a bit. But no, the Russians like to put color on their docks.

Below are a few pictures (found on the Yandex browser) that I used as inspiration.

On my cranes, I did the lacquer technique. On my previous projects I have used this technique several times using either hairspray or AK Worn Effects without any problems.

For the cranes I used the product from AMO MIG and there big problems. You have to put a lot of water, use tweezers to make multiple scratches to get the paint that goes away in big patches. In short, product to be avoided and put back the bottle of lacquer of the trade.

The next steps, filters, juices and aging will strongly reduce the clicking aspect of the paint. It is the same for the dock.

The sea is not finished, like the rest of the diorama. But I advance and I reach the end.

The crane is not too complicated and I think to do it. I need to find pictures of her base and what she's riding on. On rail, on wheel with tire, etc.

Alain.

First of all excellent Job. :thumbs_up_1:

And about the cranes. Most sea port cranes run on rails.

You already got a picture of it on your first post :heh:
You can see one of the rails along the ship. On the right corner it's a crane wheel over the rail. On the left corner there is also a crane.
