Topic review - BB-67 USS Montana 1/700

With my Montana it goes on. The next challenge are the MK.12/22 radars. There are 4 pieces of which each consist of 3 parts. The things are very small and I sometimes wonder why I do this to myself.

After that, I had to stick on the decks and start with the railings. It's starting to look like a ship. I hope the painting works out at the end as I want.

What is the AA fit for this model? Did they stick with the 40mm and 20mm or look forward to the 3" twins?

I've my own idea for the Montanas in the future, a more speculative one based on earlier designs that offered some advantages, such as the rearranged 5" twins - four each side plus one each over B and C turrets.

Looking forward to the next update! Those tiered stairs on the superstructure came out excellent, great work!

I made a small step forward with the battleship. This time it was the turn of the main superstructure with the bridge. I studied for a long time how far I should build or whether I should paint beforehand. There are around 50 parts in this superstructure alone.
Unfortunately, the holes for the stairs didn't fit so well and I had to enlarge them.

The challenge remains and the work continues.

Looking good so far! I've got the same kit/detail set in my stash, so I appreciate seeing it in your build.

I was able to make a little progress. The main guns are finished except for the defensive guns and I'm waiting for the primer. I continue with the rear mast where the large radar dish is mounted. Not quite finished yet but not much is missing.

The advantage of building ships is that you can always build different assemblies. This time I have chosen the catapults. The catapults each consist of 6 individual parts.
Of course, I bent them wrong at the beginning and had to bend them to the other side again. With such small parts, this usually ends in the parts breaking, but I was lucky here and everything held together.
The work has now been completed and both catapults are finished.
Don't ask me how long it took me, but that's how I want it....

Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look at the camo at World of Wahrsips. I haven't made a final decision yet.

I usually start with the turrets but this time it was some part in the middle. The railing comes from the kit and the rest from the detail kit. The doors could also be open, but I'll leave them closed. I don't quite like the side railing yet as it seems too high. Maybe I'll shorten it.
The flaks aren't on it yet either, as the painting comes first.

I rebuilt the hull as a waterline model and covered the bottom with a plastic plate. All the parts on the deck have been removed and will be replaced by parts from the detail set.

very cool! I have the same kit less the detailing set but it's doubtful I'll get to build it.
Have a look at World of Warships for camo ideas. The one they have as the permanent camo looks very different to what the instructions say to do and the game one looks better. There's also a wide variety of other schemes that you could use.
You could get away with using the same one the Missouri wore in 44 - the measure 32 camo. Just scaled up

I think there are indeed better decks available in 1:700... Artwox for example?:

They show. Have fun with the camouflage, because you don’t have to do what the instructions tell you - probably the best bit about building ships that were never completed, you can really have fun, while still keeping them look somewhat historically accurate.

Hello everyone, this will be my first build report here. It is the USS Montana BB-67 from Very Fire from 2016 in 1/700 scale. The corresponding detail set is from the same manufacturer.
I'm still not sure whether I really want to use the wooden deck, as it is a bit thick and makes some details disappear.I am also not yet sure which camouflage I will made. Since there is no exact camouflage, I can choose freely what I want.
