The yaks are with the kit but they are only 2 so i had to buy the extra set from Aoshima.The fading of the deck area was done like this paint and then over-paint with lighter variations of base color -see pics- i also sand with very fine sandpaper when the paint is dry to create an effect of wear.Various washes with oils then some more sanding and some very fine touches with a small brush. Naturally all markings were painted, don't even think of using those decals if you want a really realistic result.

How did you get the deck markings to have different amounts of fading? You got it just right! Please share your method. :thumbs_up_1:

Beautiful job, makes me anxious to do my 1/700 Kiev-II class... that'll be a fun one to do, but that's a little way off just yet... still have my WW2 Projects.

Here is a couple of pics of Kiev from Trumpeter.Need to paint few bits and add planes and crew.GMM's set for Prussian aircraft carrier etched set proved very useful indeed.
