Christian, I have a vast amount of aluminium plates, the ones that are used for some kind of printing process. They are thin (about 0,1 mm), easy to cut with scissors or modelling knife, suitable for shaping rounded objects much more than styrene, have one side is coated with matt light grey, can be glued together with superglue, are easy to sand and paint. To put it simply, they're a delight to use. That's why I opt for them frequently when it comes to scratchbuilding. I do plan to write an 'in-build' review but it's going to take some time as I'm really busy these days.
Russclark, actually I'm an eye surgeon...
Sean, the review mentioned above will include a few hints about the (very simple) techniques and tools that I tend to use. I just ask for your patience as I really have to choose between building the model or writing about it due to lack of time.

Is there a special reason why you have used aluminium plates to make the bridge construction?

Dear all,

here are some pictures of my WEM 1:700 Brilliant which is now ready to be painted

I used the included PE fret as well as various pieces of my PE spares box.
The bridge is completely scratchbuilt out of thin aluminium plate (walls) and styrene (roof) with some some crew members inside (alas, they can't be seen).

Small parts are temporarily attached to a piece of cardboard. This is no giant watch...
