Backtrack on this thread, you can follow what steps I took with the materials and how I went about it. List of materials: - Styrofoam & Papertowel - Liquitex Gesso - Amsterdam Gel Medium (extra heavy) - Americana Premium Acrylic Paint, Phthalo Green-Blue - Americana Premium Acrylic Paint, Phthalo Turquoise - Americana Premium Acrylic Paint, Phthalo Black - Americana Premium Acrylic Paint, Phthalo White - AK Water Gel Transparent - AK Snow Sprinkles - Liquitex High Gloss Varnish This was my first attempt at a seabed, much was researched and done by several trials.

When I saw the pictures of the float planes, and I had to double check that this was a 1:700 ship! I'm very impressed. I also really like your water effects. Extremely well done.

Finally, the 1/700 Yamato project is done and, with a "prep" crew. Likely next week, I'll post pictures in the Gallery.
- Thanks!

I circled back on the water and did substantial amount of trimming. I haphazardly created a technique due to trial and error, that is, applying a number of layers of paint (shades of blues), snow sprinkles, extra heavy gel medium and repeat (I stayed away from cotton, results were not satisfying) - it started to give an illusion of depth. Finally, topped it with water gel transparent - one more pass to create the peaks in the wakes. This process took several weeks, due to the slowness of gel curing. This is my first 1/700 kit / diorama - I'm learning.

Some foam-lined detail and a final coat of gel (cloudy in some areas as it will dry clear) before a layer of high gloss medium.

Looking at this detailing, I wonder why we dont have a much sturdier 3D printed figures (not resin, but whatever is sturdier). Or this is just an issue of what those guys used from NS to make them (brittle, poor quality). Curious. I think this bit of modeling is very much lagging.
