I ended up putting this in a diorama as a practice for my 1/350 Shimakaze.

Closeup pictures are dangerous for you health . Nice first time model, with or without the pushed in back railings.

Ouch, looking at these closeups I realized that the back railings must have gotten pushed in. Couldn't see it with the naked eye, but the pics certainly showed the issue. A little toothpick action and she's back to normal :thumbs_up_1:

I just finished my first 1/700 model (and first plastic ship model with PE upgrade set) - the PitRoad Hatsuzakura with Fivestar PE aftermarket. I had to guess a bit when it came to the rigging, but really I had a blast building this one and recommend highly the kit and FS upgrade if you're interested in this subject. I was originally going to start my plastic hobby with the Hasegawa 1/350 Shimakaze, but decided to go for something smaller and less expensive. Little did I know what I was getting myself into at 1/700. I got much better as I learned how to work PE, but I don't think it turned out too bad. I'm hooked now on 1/700, and have a decent stash of kits I'm going to start working on.

Here are some pictures. I'll probably put it in a waterline diorama setting once I have a couple more kits under my belt. Thanks for looking!
