Yes-that Pueblo! The USS Pueblo was converted from a Camano class Army Coastal Freighter in 1967 to serve as a signals intelligence collection vessel to support US Naval and Defense Security Agency needs. On her first deployment, she was attacked by North Korean forces while in international waters and seized. One crewman was killed and several others were held prisoner by the NK for almost a year. The crew suffered brutal treatment by the North Koreans and the ship is a propaganda attraction in NK to this day. The ship's cover story (and AGER label) was an oceanographic research vessel and she carried two civilian oceanographers as well as oceanographic research equipment and winches.

The hull is from the old Frog/Novo/other numerous Russian repops of the old Shell Welder Coastal Tanker. The hull was shortened to a 177' length in 1/144 scale and the bulwarks were modified to more closely match the Pueblo. Deck, superstructures, masts, antennas and just about everything else was scratch built. I did use the 26' whaleboat from the Revell Fletcher kit, but scratchbuilt the davitts. Life rings, welding cylinders, pelorus, and captains seats were 3d prints from Model Monkey and Shapeways. Photoetch stanchions from Seeman, ladders and stairs from Gold Medal Models. Plans for the AKL/Camano class freighter were found on the internet at some of the locations shown in the Calling All Fans section of the forum and drawing showing details of the Pueblo was found on an NSA posting. Lots of photos are also available on line from tourists and news articles taken on the captive ship in NK.
