What a crisp perfect model. Bravo!
A nod on photography skills, I know it is not easy to make them look at scale, more lining up of those pre assemblies for a photo without hair, and keeping the knolling logic straight as well... just wow.

HMS Venomous 1941 scale 1/350 |
 |

After I have been off from ship modelling for a while but I came back to some of my started models and finished the V&W class HMS Venomous in her 1941 outfit lately. As a basic for my model I used the excellent Showcase Models HMS / HMAS Vendetta. To build the modified V&W class destroyer HMS Venomous in her 1941 outfit a few modifications are needed. One main topic was to extend the forecastle and bridge, as well as extended bridge wings. The arrangement of the ships main artillery, AA guns, torpedo tubes and depth charge throwers was also modified. The aft 4” gun was removed to extend the depth charge rails, as was the aft torpedo tube to make place for a 3” HA gun. The mast was made of brass rod and yardarms from MASTER and a Typ 286 radar on the mast top from a generic radar set, I guess it was White Ensign Models. There were a lot of smaller modifications and add ons to increase the depth of details, some scratch build and some out of generic PE sets. Attachment:

HMS Venomous is shown in her 1941 outfit wearing a Western Approaches scheme of white and pale green and blue. The paintwork was done using Vallejo acrylics. For all weathering effects I used artist oils. Attachment:

The sea base was made out of a Styrofoam board shaped with a round brass wire brush in a motor tool. A sanding was needed to smooth the rough surface. The cut-out for the hull was made as close as possible to the contour of the hull to avoid filling larger gaps later on. This is a time consuming work, but it is worth it. Several thin coats of wall paint were added next in a stippling motion to create the uneven and wavy sea surface and all the wakes from the motion of the ship. A bow wave was added made out of Magic Sculp. Once dry, a blue gray painting gave the sea base the desired colour. All waves needed a dry brushing in white to create the effect of a ship in motion. Several layers of high gloss varnish were the finish for the base. The ship was placed inside and sealed with acrylic gel along the waterline. Attachment:

Regardless of a start of this project back in 2017 and a unbelievable evolution in 3D printing aftermarket parts I am really happy with the final result and the modifications I have done. Attachment:
