Topic review - Siebelfähre

It was nice to see you too, Marijn! And the dying Nelson of course.

Jari

PS. Should anyone be interested, SSModel has published Siebelfähre in 1/350 scale. The model is nice but separating the hull from the
sprue without breaking railings and/or the delicate rudder system is impossible. But those can be fixed without too much trouble.

Brilliant work Jari, particularly amazing considering it is in 1/700. Congratulations on your well deserved award!

Were you able to locate any plans or references you could recommend?

The color photographs you mentioned in your original post can be seen here: https://inchhighguy.wordpress.com/2022/ ... otographs/

Well, seems that the model does not have to be very complicated to have a chance in a competition. Very happy with the result! Next time perhaps something a bit bigger.

There were a number of excellent ship models in the show this year. The best perhaps the corvette about to be hit(?) by a torpedo and an Italian freighter in the harbor of Piraeus 1940.

Siebelfähre in 1/700 scale using the Fivestar kit and ION Models figurines. The model is loosely based on photos taken at Lake Ladoga in 1942 when a number of Siebel ferries operated against the supply routes to Leningrad together with some
Italian Navy motor torpedo boats. Yellow Eastern Front stripes were ordered to be painted on the bow of all the vessels participating in the operation. Most likely there were no ferries with four 88 mm guns in operation but as only a few of the vessels were photographed I decided to keep all four guns on board.

I'll take this along to the SMC should anyone viewing this post be there.

Regards,

Jari
