A durable design. Great and appropriate diorama.

Thank you. Still a weird idea that this is 60 years ago already. And Korolev's design is still flying.

60 years ago today Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space aboard Vostok 1. In order to commemorate this I made a little 1/700 diorama of his rocket on its way to the launchpad.
The rocket is a 3D print from shapeways, the rails and cars are from Alliance Modelworks with a locomotive carved from styrene and the transporter is also styrene based on a paper download I re-scaled from 1/100 to 1/700. I saw the combination in Moscow back in 1990 when it was painted in white and red, the Vostoks that were actually flown seem to have been painted grey. I used the green-ish (springtime) steppe to get some color in the diorama.
