Not Kiev think more along the line of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Its a great light carrier. If your going to operate a V/STOL you need a full length flight deck.

that looks like something Ive seen before. Kiev? not sure right now, ill have to go look. Like your design, but I wanted to make this thing for the F-35C. It has better range and dosent burn crazy amounts of fule for vertical take off. I'll get to work on this picture more sometime so i can represent my vision better.

Escort carrier type:

For the best utility an unimpeded flight deck. RAM takes the primary for AAW (after the air wing). Two deck edge lifts. The AN/SPY-1K would actually work for this ship quite well. It could be programmed to do the air traffic control. As well as air search. A long thin island rather than a superstructure cutting the flight deck. The flight deck will need to be made of HY-100 to handle the F-35B. Be sure to give the ship enough reserve boyancy to have a high freeboard to the main deck. You can have a AN/SPQ-9B for targeting RAM and have at least 4 25mm stabalized guns. This ship will spend most of its deployments in the Gulf or off Somalia hunting pirates. MH-60R and AH-1X Sea Cobra are a must. CV-22 are also a good idea for this boat.

Nice idea. I like the version in the side view, good balance of aircraft, guns, and missiles. The overall AO look even helps disguise it's true nature and purpose, especially at a distance. Any idea yet on things like length, beam, displacement and those other nitty details?

Can see it having employment in convoy escorting, amphibious operations, and anti-piracy work. Not to mention bringing up fond memories of my days with MSC (Military Sealift Command).

Looking forward to further developments.

I am a freaking detail person. I do it for a living. When I scratch build a ship. I like to write up a page of requirements a little faux history for the ship and bs like that. I get a little serious at times, kind of perfectionistic.

You asked. I like your designs. Your prototyping in photoshop is excelent.

Italy abandoned this design after Vittorio Veneto (550) for Giuseppe Garibaldi (551)
Royal Navy abandoned this design after HMS Tiger for the Through Deck Cruiser HMS Invinsible
The Japanese Maratime Self Defense Force abandoned this design after the Haruna class (DDH-141) for the Hyuga class (DH-181)

The Hyuga DDH-181 is near your concept. add 5,000 long tons of displacement 10 meters more beam, move the radars at least 8 decks above the flight deck. Also pay attention to the USN's LHD-1, Spain's Juan Carlos I, and British Royal Navy's HMS Ocean. There is a gap in capability between the LHA/LHD and the LPD catagories and your ship can fit in it nicely.

:destroyer: i love fantasy builds, just remember its a fantasy.

Hold that thought Tim. She will have two landing areas, angled from port to starboard, and starboard to port. I had this planned out but hadn't represented it in the drawing yet because I've been finalizing CSGN~138. I've sketched it on paper and it looks like it should work. I'll try to finish the drawing while I'm waiting for my kits for CSGN to arrive in the mail

Hello everybody. me again, with new pictures that have the same backgroud as all my other pics HAHAHA. Sorry about that, its just a good "template" to work with.

Anyway, this idea is clearly in the VERY early stages of my thought process. Is there a need for a ship like this? maybe not, but i think it would be usefull when a full CBG is not rrequired.

It will have elctromagnetic cats, so it will carry the F-35C.

What do y'all think?
