Thx, Timmy.

It's entirely possible that a given batch of paint might not have blue tint, but that would be the exception, not the rule.

For ease of discussion, here's the page/call-outs that Fox Red is referring to:

I'm not sure where Vallejo's information comes from. The official mix ratios produce a gray with a slight blue tint. That said, there was variation between yards. Yokosuka applied paints appear to have a greenish tinge to them.

Thanks!

To avoid confusion and misunderstanding, I refer to the guide by a forum member and modelling enthusiast that is not in any way affiliated with Vallejo. There is a thread pinned in this forum with links to the actual document.

I asked this as a response to the pinned thread on the Vallejo Color Equivalents Guide but maybe it qualifies as a subject on its own.

In the Vallejo Color guide, each of the japanese shipyards has an alternate grey without the blue tint. It says (B,C) - does that mean this alternate paint was used for Battleships and Cruisers only, or does it mean something completely different? I cannot find an explaination to the letters (so I assume it is so obvious to everyone else but me it isn't necessary...).

And how often, and why, was this alternate paint without blue tint used? Was this due to some kind of shortage of blue pigment during a certain period?

I have tried to google this but cannot find a single reference to these 'alternate, without blue tint' colors on the web.
