Topic review - US Navy Missile-Painting Conventions
Author Message
Post subject:  US Navy Missile-Painting Conventions  Reply with quote
My understanding is that since sometime during the 1960's, US Navy missiles have followed a painting convention in which live rounds are white overall, while training rounds have blue fuselages and white wings and fins. The rules seem to have been very different, though, during the 1950's. I've seen photos of 50's naval missiles painted yellow with blue boosters, red with white boosters and nosecones, and even Haze Gray with yellow rings in various places. Does anyone know the system at work behind those early schemes?
