This is the USS Ward (DD-139) as she appeared on December 7, 1941. I built this kit during October-Decmber 2021 to have ready for December 7th. The build is out-of-the-box, including the excellent PE set. The exact moment depicted is Ward firing its first shot at the Japanese mini submarine, firing the first US shot of the war. This build was my first serious attempt at working with photo etch, and for the most part it went well, especially after a lackluster job on the model I'd built before this one.
