Topic review - Revell 1/700 USS Atlanta

Post subject:  Revell 1/700 USS Atlanta  Reply with quote
This build was my first ever commission, ordered from a friend that I work with. This kit is a conversion of the Revell USS San Juan kit. The build depicts USS Atlanta (CL-51) as she would have appeared in her final days during the Guadalcanal campaign in November 1942. The base kit left a lot to be desired, and a decent amount of the anti-aircraft pods had to be modified or rebuilt entirely. I built the masts from scratch and added panel weld lines to the hull, and the turrets, barrels, railings, depth charge racks, and radar are all aftermarket. Most doors, ladders, rangefinders, life rafts and other features also had to be added in. The torpedo bulge was also shortened (originally running almost the entire length of the ship.)
