> A brief history >
>> The Royal Siamese Navy Department (RSN) ordered four coastal submarines from Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Japan which cost 820,000 baht each on 5 November 1935, following a naval enforcement program 1934. A given name was MATCHANU(2nd)(No. 1), WIRUN(No.2), SINSAMUT(No.3) and PHLAI-CHUMPHON(No.4). All were commissioned on 19 July 1938
>> A ship displacement was 374.5 tons,430 tons dived, length 51.00m., breadth 4.10m., height 11.65m., draught 3.60m. Armaments were 1-76mm. gun, 1-8mm. machine gun and 4-45cm. torpedo tube.
>> Main machineries were two 1,100 HP diesel engines, one 540 HP electric generator, two shafts, 14.5 knots max speed and operated with 33 crews.
>> Wartime Operations > These 4 submarines have served throughout the wars, both Indochina War and Greater East Asia War, mostly border patrol duties, no fired operation was reported. In late Greater East Asia War, power plants in Bangkok were damaged by Allies air bombardment, RSN. MATCHANU and RSN.WIRUN were assigned to mooring at Bangkok Dock Co. and supplying electricity to the main tram line from ship's generators.
>> All four ships were decommissioned on 30 November 19 June 1951, only thirteen years of serviced.

> About the diorama >
This diorama was built in mid 2022 (April-June) on 9x22cm clear and stackable box base. Dock and slipway were made from 0.5mm styrene sheet, logs bank were made from wooden toothpick while rocks bank were made from filtered sands. Trees were made from small natural wood stick while bunch come from small piece of colored sponges. Water base made from flat skylight fiberglass roof sheet, wakes were formed and brushed with heavy gel medium. Other element came from varies aftermarket PE parts as described above.
Sorry for poor and unclear detail images which used auto mode mobile phone camera (only F1.4) and cropped with Photoshop.
