Yes, I have a few in my stash also. I am concerned about the accuracy of the overall height and the base and top circumferences. The style of the older cage masts is "lighter" also, with fewer of the tall elements. The mast tops were much lighter - sometimes just a "box" or a round tub - so the mast did not need to be as strong as on the Tennessee and Colorado classes with their heavy, three-level tops.

Hello Richard,
I've one of each in my stash. PE mast are straight conuses and not hyperbolids and should largely benefit from your printed ones.

Does anybody know how accurate the old Samek PE cage masts were for their USN pre-dreadnoughts and early dreadnoughts? I ahve some of those old kits and could work off those if they were accurate.

earlier "cage" masts could be done but I have no documentation for their dimensions.

Could you please consider doing pre-dreadnought cage masts in 1/700? They would be a great help to me.

Newly designed 1/700 scale "cage" masts for the Colorado and Tennessee class USN battleships are now available on the Tom's Modelworks website. The set includes photo-etch details such as yardarms and searchlight platforms.
