That's a nice Gneiseau, Martin, looks pretty sweet. I should be getting some pics of my early converted Gneiseau up shortly, once I can get a desk and get some good lighting for the shots with the Pentax. Shots will insue then, of the Gneiseau, Fenris, Von Der Tann, Z50 and the Koya... granted only the Gneiseau is finished currently, but the others will get working once I have a good workspace.

Thanks guys. I then managed to almost take the foremast off when I got home! Devin didn't mention he took a 2nd in a separate category with his Civil War Ironclad, Weehawken.

At the risk of stepping on Martin's toes, below is a photo of his completed Gneisenau. He took first place in his class yesterday at Replicon. Congrats!

(not a very clear picture, I must have be jittery; no coffee...)

After a few weeks away from the workbench (vacation and some minor surgery that laid me up last weekend), I've been able to get "back at it" the last few days. Here's how Gneisenau stands as of tonight:

All that's left is to finish painting and then assemble the Arado floatplane, assemble and mount the FuMo22 radar (I think I've figured out how the PE radar goes together) and then weathering. I hope to have the model done by next week, so I can bring it to the MarauderCon show in Maryland, which is on 9/15.

Mornining Martin,

Having only just seen the latest photos of your 'Gneisenau' all I can say is 'more power to your elbow'. If I could do as well at say 1/144th I'd be in heaven. I like your model muchly indeed. Roll on 'Scharnhorst'! As they say here 'I'm wettin' meself waitin''

excellent work :thumbs_up_1: looks really nice and crisp, well done

The balance of the PE has been added, masts have been painted, and I made some blast bags from Milliput. Not entirely happy with the way the blast bags came out, but since it was my first attempt using this stuff, I guess they came out alright, albeit a little too big.

Still a little more to do: The seaplane, some touch up, then I can do the rigging and weathering.

Your 'Gneisenau' is coming along superbly. I do like the masts. Being rude (possibly) are they etch or did you make them up? Etch or self made, she looks really great and is a credit to you. I take my hat off to you. What's next ..'Scharnhorst'?

HAB
Thank you sir. The Masts are simple brass rod - two different sizes for the main mast, three different for the foremast - super glued together with the assistance of the CA glue accelerator.

Yes, a 1/700 Scharnhorst is in the works!
