Goldenpony,

I used Tamiya's Water Effect plastic sheet. I got it at my local Hobby Town USA. It comes in a sheet about 16" by 22" and is about $20.00. I spray paint the bottom of it Dark Sea Blue and paint the wake with acrylic flat white and then brush a coat of gloss clear coat on top of that.

Sometimes I'll give the bottom a light dusting of Intermediate Blue, let that dry and then spray the entire back solid with the Dark Sea Blue.

A couple of years ago I dabbled in the Bob Ross technique of oil painting. I bought one of his painting kits for daughter for Christmas and she lost interest in it. I tried it out and did about 30 canvases in about 3 months. It has come in handy for painting the ship wakes, I think.

Were did you buy that material for your sea? I had seen people use that before, it looks nice.

You FFG also looks really nice.

Arnobiz,

The two masts came with the kit. There's an option of plastic or PE masts. The flag is from a decal sheet, not sure which one. I had to scratchbuild the flagstaff for the ensign to make it more like photos that I've seen of the real Ingraham.

I mounted little square pieces to receive the bottom of the shroud rigging lines.

This was my first try at such small scale rigging. I've doen larger wooden sailing ship models, before. I found the heat tighening of the monofilament line a really cool technique.

Pingjockey,

Good luck with your Ingraham kit! We'll all look forward to seeing it when you're done or while in progress.

I think that my camera makes my model look better than it really is.

Shhh! Its a secret.

I am working on this same kit right now. I hope mine turns out as good as yours.

Good job, and nice looking sea! How did you do this nice flag? Is the mast Out of the box or did you do it yourself? It looks really fine and good :thumbs_up_1:
