Where's the fun in that? The Lindberg kit is the low cost leader and... it was designed to actually float.

Italeri has an LCVP in 1/35. Much more recent model, and probably more accurate. Might be a better starting point. http://www.ipmsusa.org/reviews/Kits/Shi ... 5_LCVP.htm :wave_1:

I'll leave this here for posterity. The Browning .30 cals used a M40 pintle mounted on a gun "trolley"; no visible rollers.

Here's a modern restoration with a few vintage photos thrown in: http://www.robertsarmory.com/Higgins-Boat.htm

I am about to embark on building a lcvp of WWII vintage. I have the old Lindberg kit (1/32...supposedly) and my goal is to upgrade as much as possible via PE or scratchbuilding some of the details. One area I have not been able to get any information on is the mount for the .30 cal guns. I haven't been able to find any pictures of the mounts or any detail on what type the mounts were. I am assuming they were pintle mounted on ring mounts, but that is just a guess based on looking at some very fuzzy photos.

Any info out here?
