Hello everyone. I had a few of free time due to finishing the University. So after a long time I get back to my Sharnhorst. I finished C37 flaks and started to make 2 cranes what are placed on the front superstructure. Pulleys on the cranes are made of etchings. Each of this are made of three parts for creating a groove for the cables.

Yes yes. I know that drawing. As you wrote it looks like original plan. But its quality is terrible. Model what you sent I know too :) Look really good - think that it was pattern to 3D Fridriech der Grose in WOWS :D But there are a lot of question. For example catapult. One sketch has it on the stern of the ship, some in the middle - WOWS has it between turret C and D. In my opinion the best choise is first one - at the stern of the ship with rails from the hangars - like model what you sent.

If you have some plans/drawings - I will be happy to have it too  You can send it to 987mis@gmail.com . Thank you :)

I would doubt that the plans does not exist, as the design for these ships was finalized and two keels were actually laid down. This is what I found on this forum: http://www.modellschlachtschiffe.de/img ... h-plan.jpg
It looks like the original drawing to me, but it is so pixelated that it won't be of any use. If someone could point out the source of this, it would really help. Also, here is a pretty big model of the H39 and it looks accurate to me: http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index. ... ge__st__20

I also have a somewhat crude drawing of this ship, which includes profile, deck and body plans. I bought them from Strike Models. I could send you scans if you wish to see or use it as a reference.

Aop

I spoke with experts in KM and they said that there are no plans or somethink like that. I have only sketches how the ship +- look like and thats all. It will be really ships puzzle. Shape of the hull I took from WOWS and superstructures will be made by this sketches. And thats all what I need to do it. Cause details like AA, rescue boats, guns...this all will be the same as for example Tirpitz. Yes, if this ship would be built in WW2 - there would be new equipment - modernized AA etc. but I have a plan to make it with "basic" equipment :) At the end - they started in 1939 so they could finish it in 1945 +-

That catapult looks very nice!

What references do you have in hands for the H klasse project? I've been trying to find these never-built subjects' plans for a while now, so I would be happy if I could get some from you...

Aop

Yes, it is H39 class :) As I wrote - mybe it will be the next paper model after Scharn :)

My guess would be the H39. 138.5 mm in 1/200 would be 277 m in 1/1, which is the length of H39. The ship in the WoWs picture is the Friedrich der groe, which as I have read from some sources was a name for one of the H-Klass ships.

Your Scharnhorst is looking great as always! It's amazing to see how much paper could do! :thumbs_up_1:

@Joachim, if you are interested in the O-class battlecruiser project, there are really good drawings of the ship's hull lines here, and they were possibly the original plans: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=88203
Though with these we still have little info on the upperworks.

Aop

Seriously though, nice work all around!

Nope, but you are so close :) It is bigger than O-class :) 138,5 cm long at 1:200 scale :)

There are no plans. Only simple sketches so it will be somethink like german ships puzzle :) I know what shapes does it have and details will be made by my knowladge about KM. It will be based on Bismarck/Tirpitz construction :) In WOWS there are 2 ships what represent this class but I have some reservation to them.

Hi Stefino!

Is it a german O-Klasse battlecruiser? Im really curious! Where did you get the plans?

Best regards!

Joachim

Thanks :)

Some pictures of my next project after Scharnhorst? Maybe? I do it when I am away from home. Do someone know what ship is it? :heh: It is historical "reconstruction" of my favourite ship :)

Hi Olaf
Thanks :)

Holes in the hull were made by WOWS hull-texture skin for Scharnhorst. As you wrote - there are no plans for it, have only hull plan for Tirpitz, where the all holes are. But here I used this texture from 3D model. 3D model is really good - I compared it with plans and it has good quality. So I hope that its hull is +- realistic too. Have no idea where they found it if at all. But in the end it looks quite better than only monolithic red colour. It is only one thing what I made without regular plans - but with my knowladge about KM :)

In final look they are mainly at the bottom of the hull so If you look from the top you will see only red hull :) But as I wrote - I am not proud that I made it without regular plans.

Fantastic build, keep it coming!

How did you find a proper arrangement for all the underwater hull openings? As far as I know, no plans for this have survived. Did you adapt a Bismarck/Tirpitz pattern to your Scharny?

Happy modelling ~ Olaf!

Some news - 24 rescue boats. Made of resin, etchings and paper. One of them has 7 parts.
