The only important question is what time period do you want to show Ashtabula. She served from 1945 to 1966 in her original configuration, then was jumboized by adding 90' to the hull. (553' lengthened to 644')
She then served in that appearance until 1991 when she was sold to Turkey.
So a WWII appearance would not be the same as after the jumbo conversion.
p.s. I have it on my list of "someday" projects to take a couple of 1/700 T-2 kits and try the jumbo modification. Actually, I suppose since the additions were pretty straight sections, maybe it could be done without the second kit, and just using sheet plastic sections for the added length and then working on the deck piping and valves as necessary.
