When Tamiya first introduced this set I said nice, then I noticed it was (at my LHS) $25 and I wondered what I got and what the quality was of this set. I hope the following pictures hekp others decide.
Here is what you get:
Box top

This will be a good guide for adding smaller details to the boats.
Box bottom

Lists what and how many of each are included in the box.
Sprue, top and bottom. The box contains 2 sprues.
Close up of the molding quality.
Also included is a small photo etch fret, it contains mostly chocks for the boats to sit on and a few parts for some boats.
Also included is a drilling guide so hole placement is accurate when you drill holes for the chocks on deck.
A sample of the instruction sheet, they are nice a detailed, show all parts and how to use the drilling guide and show paints to use in the Tamiya color range.
I feel the set is pretty good and fairly complete, if desired, the modeler will have to add the small details to the boats such as rails, props and masts. No decals are included.
Boats included in the set:
Sampans, 6 meter x 2 each
8 m x 2 each
Cutters, 7 meter x 2 each
9 m x 4 each
Motor Launches, 7.5 meter x 4 each
8 m x 2 each
11 m x 2 each
12 m x 4 each
15 m x 2 each
17 m x 2 each
Special landing craft 13 meter x 2 each
6 sets of left and right handed oars, 30 davits of 3 types.
The set looks very nice and will help enhance (IMHO) the 1/350th scale kit of Nagara I am building.
