Who ever sent me this photograph when I was a wee lad wrote in pen at the bottom Ramillies.
As we can clearly see its no R-class.

Having a few spare minutes I checked Burt and it does appear this ship is an Iron Duke class to my eyes.
The bridge particularly and the thing which suggests Marlborough to me is the small medium-base rangefinder on the compass room's roof in the photo.
Burt shows this in plan form, but then again does not draw each ship of the class at this time to compare precisely.
Was that feature unique to her only?
One feature which does not match for me with Burt''s drawings of Marlborough are where the searchlights are.
He draws them one deck lower, i.e. the bridge deck inline with the top of the main rangefinder.
Does this suggest Iron Duke then before a gunnery trials ship?

These iron dukes are hard to tell apart at this time frame it would seem and I'm happy for anything else one can suggest as unique features to ID them apart.
I agree with the date range but I'd say late-1920s or early-1930s.
I've made the picture a bit bigger and things easier to see.

That looks like IRON DUKE before she went as a gunnery ship 1931.

Not convinced she's a QE. If a QE, where is the mainmast starfish? Not sure I've seen a QE with those very tall davits for seaboats amidships.
Suggest check the Iron Dukes - the Iron Dukes could be very difficult to tell apart, although there were a number of minor configuration differences: foretopmast height & yard spacing, presence/absence of range clocks, flying-off platforms & liferafts, presence/height of mainmast, configuration of spotting top and associated platforms, presence of/size of bridge roof rangefinder, bridge searchlights (obscured in the posted version) etc. My guess, FWIW, is MARLBOROUGH, in the 1924-1931 period (no flying-off platform on 'B' turret, no range clock, small unprotected rangefinder) but I'm far from certain!
