Thanks guys, appreciate the comments. The model is done, pictures and a write up have been submitted to Tim & Sean.

Christoph, the water is artists acrylic gel. Once I get back from vacation (I'm currently in Cape Cod, MA), I'll try and put a short tutorial together on how I do it...

Nice work on a good kit from Regina Marina :cool_2:
I can remember that is was not so easy to make the brigde with this PE parts  But it is a real good solotion for the round brigde. And at your ship it looks alsmost perfect done

The water ( ? ) how you have done this ?It seems so realistic!

Martin

I just stumbled upon this thread. This is fantastic. I love the colors on the deck.

Thanks for the update Martin. I was just wondering yesterday when you would send more pictures.

Put the masts on last night. The ships boats went on one night earlier in the week. Next step: the PE railings.

Great job so far! I have always been a fan of the red/white stripes on the Italian ships.

Thanks Gordon. I use acrylic artist paints. Thalo Blue and Thalo Green, mixed to 'taste'. I did a write up on my "method" for my local IPMS club last year. You can find in our July 2007 Newlsetter, starting on page 7.

Great up-date pictures Martin. Your Andrea Doria looks great.

What do you use to paint your water?

Finally starting to look more like a battleship. This is as far as I got today, until my allergies made it impossible to see what I was doing...

Next step is to do the masts, then start railing the main decks. There is also more touch up to do (naturally), plus I'll have to make a pair of directors for the raised platforms on either side of the funnels, the kit ones were unusable.

Very nice build!!!! Are your barrels also breakable? I make yesterday new 32cm/44 barrels without Blastbags!

Lookin good Martin. One just has to love those peek-a-boo colors. Now you see me (bow) and now you don't (the rest of the ship). The dark blue water makes the ship's colors stand out.

Not much time to build lately, but some progress pictures. AA battery is on, awaiting some barrels, which will be made from (thin) brass rod. The secondary turrets and some other parts are awaiting a new coat of paint - just have to find the time to break out the airbrush. Once that's done, I can start adding the PE railings and other PE parts.

That is some smexy picture work there, lighting could have been a little better, but then better a little dim than horribly whitewashed. That canon seems to fire quite nicely for you, MJQ. Andrea looks smexy in the low light.
