Here is my completed Lindberg 1/762 German battleship Scharnhorst, mold markings 1967. Good molding, little flash. It took me about 4 weekends to complete.
The kit appears to represent Scharnhorst in late October 1939, as shown in the photo. There is still a catapault on Turret Caesar, which was removed in early 1940. Color scheme as per the artwork from KBismarck.com site.
Brush painted using ArmyPainter acrylics: Dragon Red lower hull, Weapon Bronze propellors, Ash Grey vertical surfaces, Uniform Grey and Skeleton Bone horizontal surfaces. AA guns in Necromancer Cloak, and molded-on machine guns in Matte Black. Floatplanes in Goblin Green and Ash Grey. Matte Black and Matte White used as needed, and a light wash of Soft Tone applied to the finished ship.
I made a good-faith effort to rig the masts, using mandolin string and CA glue. What came out was -- tragic. The lines were not parallel to one another, and looked like (wait for it!) mandolin strings glued to styrene. So, off they came.
Fun kit to make again, having previously built it in grade school.
