Stefan,

Nice work on the tower, especially with the gusset plates!

Did the ship have any diagonals internal to the lattice box - horizontal beams diagonal across each level? I know some ship's towers are built this way. These diagonals do not show on the profile drawings. You need to look closely at photos.

I know that's the last thing you want to deal with now that you have the structure "complete" - more stuff jammed into each corner!

On my CLG-5 model one tower has 15 different pipes and gusset plates coming together at one junction! I have no idea how I will model this!

Thanks everybody for your kind appreciation.

Phil, you were right. I forgot the diagonals.
After intense picture research (I didn't find any real close-ups) I found out the correct assembly.
There is only one diagonal in the first and in the second level but they are in different directions.
I already applied them.

I recently completed the ladders, the "crowsnest" and the Type 272 Radar Lantern.
The Ladders are glued together of 0,7mm styrene rods.
(I'm still puzzling over that triangle inside the lattice which can be seen on the lower foto in the background.
On other pics I recognized a small platform on the lower end of it but still have no idea what it's good for...)

Hello everybody, here is you can see my latest proceedings:

The engine room vents (they really were of that edgy-shape type)

I puttied and sanded the ventilators and put them in position now.
The upper part is sticked on the lower one thus being rotatable:

First I had to extend the keel of both boats because they were almost level with the planking:

In the meantime I've worked on the anchor windlass which unfortunately is not the same model as in the flower class corvettes so that I mainly had to keep to fotos (also very rare):

Thank's a lot and I would seriously consider resin casting if there were further items for mass production.
Fortunately I'm building a corvette and not battleship, otherwise I'd have to revise my technique.

Just looked a bit closer and realised that you have manufacture all the mushroom vents. Sorry I saw the colour of the ones next to the coin and assumed they had been resin cast. It must be the lighting. Well done.
Seriously it might be worth trying some simple resin casting for fittings like this on your next project.

... Absolutely, the more so because I don't like this sort of assembly-line work.

On the other hand: Until my next project starts it will probably take a little while.
So maybe 3-D printing will improve in the meantime being more effective and affordable.
