In Memoriam

Admiral Ron Horabin

It has been a year since my Dad passed away and I wanted to celebrate his life in the only way I now how, by showing you all his large collection of scratch built models. It was after he had been to a model boat regatta with a Graupner Bugsier 3 Tug kit where seven other Bugsier 3 Tugs also sailed he vowed never to build a kit again, so his love for scratch building large ships began.

my condolences Tiny.
I had the pleasure of sometimes talking to his father praised his work as well and be praised for it. I'm sad because I did not know of the death of his father.
've been very busy with work, family and the craziness of everyday life
God be with
Norberto

Tiny,

Like many others, I wasn't aware that the Admiral had passed. I thoroughly enjoyed following his posts because he was a phenomenal builder and on the occasion when he posted favorable comments on my own postings, I felt a sense of acknowledgment that perhaps in a small way, I was measuring up to his level. He was one helluva great chap and the world is a little less bright without him.

My deepest condolences,

John

A very nice tribute to your Dad! That says a lot about the man. Rest in Peace, Admiral.

Already a year....
That is a great collection. I remember him as a kind man, always helpful with ideas when needed.
I only knew a small portion of his collection, the last ships, as shared on this board. I saw the occasional reference he made to other ships, like his Perseus, but of course have never seen these ships. It's great to see this large collection of ships he built. A great tribute for sure, the board has become more silent without him!

I can't believe it's been that long. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. You dad would approve!

Not a day goes buy without I'm thinking of my very good friend Ron . He was not just a super model maker but like all good friends we had much in common. An appropriate tribute and much appreciated .

It is nice to know that so many people still think about him, how he helped them, praised and encouraged them, so he will always be remembered.

From Ron's good friend Nick Jellicoe

It was an enormous pleasure to have known Ron, but I'm sad that it was only for such a short time. I think we would have become very good friends. He was clearly a special person. For many people, old and young. What I loved about Ron was that he could be many things. Quiet and unassuming, always enthusiastic and ready to help, persistent and meticulous in his work and just a lovely person to be around. I feel very honoured that he gave his beloved Iron Duke to the family and hope that we will do Ron's memory justice when the Centenary is upon us. He was, and will remain, a great source of inspiration to very many people all around the world. Rest in Peace, Ron. We will all miss you, Nick

Outstanding work, and tribute. My condolences for your loss my friend.

If there is a heaven, I hope he (and later maybe me) are building models there.

It is nice to know that people still think about ARH and that he will never be forgotten. I am also pleased that his models have been kept by members of the family and that they too will always have something to remember him by.
