Cool ship, I love the stern too, and the entire ship. Any pictures of the real thing and what it should look like???

Strange scale though, how did you come to 1/35?

Regards
Roel

Hallo all, :wave_1:

Neptune scale 1/35 is my favourite scale , it is a challenge to make something in this scale , because I love the look of this ship/boat , I thought why not give it a try. I will scan a photo of the original.

Dave the hull is vacuum formed , built out of 3 seperate moulds , then put together .

Some more photo's , this time the front part.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/s ... g_0066.jpg

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/s ... g_0067.jpg

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/s ... g_0069.jpg

All the photo's show the typical front part of the ship/boat , with knick . Only T-22 till T-30 had this knick in the front part.

Enjoy,

Kind regards,

Ludwig

1/35 is the standard scale for military vehicle modelling. There are a couple of kits of WW2 landing craft in this scale, as well as Italeri's new PT boat.
If you model ships/boats in this scale, there are plenty of useful bits (armament, figures etc.) available in military vehicle kits.

Hi Neptune,

This is how my model should look like when finished. Sorry for the unclear photo.

Also look at this wonderfull camouflage of white , light & dark grey , blue grey and black grey.

Ludwig,

I admire you for making this particular boat at 1/35th. I have often had thoughts of making one at a smaller scale but dismissed the idea as they being too long and narrow, which would be a nightmare for a working model. Is your boat static or R/C?

Good luck with this and I can't wait until she is finished. Incidently how long is she?

Hallo HAB, :wave_1:

The model will be static , I am planning her/him into a large diorama with one more boat (a minesweeper or havenschutzboot , I do not really know yet), depicting them into a channel harbour during 1942/43.
The model is 2 meters 934 mm long by 28 cm 6mm wide or 9 foot 62'' long by 9.3 inch wide.

regards,

Ludwig

Really great hull. The boat is going to look amazing. I am slightly surprised to here it will be static (it is OK that way) but man would that make an impressive RC ship dominating the lake. :worship_1:

P.S. What armament does the ship have?

Hallo all, :wave_1:

Thank you for the kind replies , yes Jim every nut and bolt will be visible , there is one problem , there are not much close-up photo's at hand so there will be lots of inprovisation.

Reid as I have said before the hull is vacuum formed (will take some photo's of the moulds & of my vacuum forming machine).I can not give you advice in how making the hull , I would make a mould first and than (vacuum) form it , but some other guys on this forum will take another approach.

The armament of this type of boat was:
4x TK 10,5 cm L/45 ; 4x Flak 3,7 cm ; 6x Flak 2,0 cm ; 6x Torpedorohre 53,3 cm, 10 depth charges and about 60 mines. These boats were used as fast minelayers.(speed 33,5 knots).

regards,

Ludwig

Morning Ludwig,

Am I reading correctly she's 9ft 6" long? That should be some model when she's finished and static! I have problems with a working model 5ft long: a flight of stairs and tight doorways.

Good luck to you, 'you're a better man than I Gunga Din' unquote. One thing I'm unsure of and that is did you make the hull or is it a commercial one? If you made it then I'll take my hat off to you as, we say.

Ludwig - you da Man!!!

Fantastic build. I will be watching every move for inspiration.

Do you have a build time at all?

If there was an emoticon for it, it would be here - my hat off to you.

Hallo all, :wave_1:

Some photo's of my moulds , hand made :

Image

Image

the front part of my model, 2 seperate moulds had to be made.

Image

the center part , ruler in front is 90cm , almost 1 yard.

Image

the aft part .

Image

Image

an other boat is in the making , these are the front and aft part.

Image

My plastic stock and working table.

Image

My vacuum-forming machine home made, height +180cm (+ 6ft) , width + 120cm (+4ft) , depth + 60cm (+ 2ft).

Image

the vacuum-pump which gives me maximum vacuum in a matter of seconds.

Image

the heating elements, 8 in total , each 1000 Watt can all be put on and off seperately.

Image

the forming table , this is the largest one 120x60 (4x2 ft), there are two more tables 90x60 (3x2 ft) and 60x60 (2x2 ft).

Afternoon Ludwig,

Enjoy the Photos.? I'm green with envy. You must have more patience than me sire and I take both hats off to you. To make the moulds, then vacform the pieces? That is something you don't see too often.

Double luck to you in your build. As I said before, this is something and again!
