Both Tony and I started on airplane MODELS and I can say they're the same as drawing... sounds simple, but nooooooo!

I popped a link earlier in Tony's post about Floating Drydock to their hull lines page, but might have done so after you read it.

i looked through and didnt see a post by you on them. I went through twice. these say they are tfw or whatever and say they the most complete of his drawings. I got some drawings by George Goff but the stations arent very good and theres only like half a dozen of them and the drawings themselves look almost freehanded.

FWIW, I'm an a/c convert. I built an 1/18 Bell X-1 for my brother this past Christmas. That's the first a/c I've built since 2003!!
All I can say is, "watch out"!
Why 1/72 scale?
If you were to re-select 1/96 scale, all of a sudden there is a plethora of resin accessories available; not to mention a nice looking fiberglass hull!!!

cause I like HUGE lol the last plane I designed and been working on is a 1/2 scale sopwith triplane. I am also a scratch builder so I like to make my own stuff not prebought if I can help it.

also the first one I do will probably be a paying project for a potential customer which likes big.

Ok well I ordered the twf series that says it has everything. kinda wished FD had a number where you could talk to someone but only seen a fax. I recieved a message from them saying it had the stations so I went and sent the 30 bucks off for the whole shebang

I tracked down his phone number once and got an ear full... he does *NOT* want phone calls and was quite pissed off that I'd managed to find him!
I hope you get what you're looking for; his plans can be a good starting point, but sometimes they have errors or are fairly "tired" in terms of quality.

well he is a hard one to understand what he is saying in his emails lol but he says he used the original navy offsets to draw his stations so will see what 30 bucks gets me.

Yea seems them florida guys are like that. there was someone I looked up one time to ask questions before I spent 400 bucks on some model stuff. he got pissy with me and I said well I guess I wont waste 400 bucks on you if thats what you give for customer support. then I hung up and he called back appologizing a couple mins later and I said oh well i wont deal with aholes by and hung up again and he was from flo too lol.

seems to me if you have a business you need to take calls so ppl know exactly what they getting or to fix problems with the orders they get.

All depends on what type of business you want to run. Some guys are perfectly happy with a small business with fewer orders.....

Tracy hit that business and business owner topic on the head. I get 25 orders a month; on a decent month. Jacques gets that many orders in a single day!
We're both quite grateful for when a customer wants to see what we have and we're both quite grateful when a purchase is made. Lastly, a satisfied customer becomes a songbird for your company. That's how it works.

I think I'm speaking for at least Tracy and myself when I ask you to post your findings when you've received your drawings.
Good drawings are a necessity; in any case.

Tony pm sent. I will be starting a project thread soon. I am working on the super structure now I have the basics for the lower structure almost finished from the drawings I have. but I am sure they will have to be modified. I am just throwing pieces together to get a feel for the layout.

Prob start thread and post screenshots a little later this evening when I finish adding roofs to the storage lockers

lol thanks but so far I havent been able to loft up a ships hull in solidworks yet. I am wanting to get it in SW but i am not good at suface modeling in it and most shapes give problems trying to loft a full hull as a solid. I am going to do it at 1/48th scale so 152.08" long that is if I can get the hull as a parasolid in SW so I can plug it into the cnc machine to mill up the hull for plugging

the one thing I wished I could find for this hull is the Table of Offsets it would make lofting so much easier. I got my bath ironworks fletcher class destroyer dvd in and been working on entering the data. now if i can find a TOO for this one and the iowa class BB ill be a happy camper because I am getting with working with the TOO and creating a table useable in my cad program a little easier each time i do one
