I am very excited about these!!!! :jump_1: :woo_hoo:

Darren at Hawk Graphics designed, and is printing, these decals for me!! He has made this dream come true, for me!! :worship_1:

Because of the Bering Strait's gray paint scheme (in preparation for turning her over to the Republic of Vietnam Navy), she had white hull letters and numbers, and ship's name on the port and starboard sides of the fantail.

It is not finished yet, but I thought that I'd take some "pretty pictures".

While in a holding period on my USCG 311' Cutter, I'm continuing with the modifications to another ISW USS Mackinac AVP-13 kit and converting it to a Motor Torpedo Boat Tender (AGP).

The long openings in the decks, port and stbd, are for torpedo handling. Some torpedos were stowed and maintained underneath and behind the splinter shield.

This is the stern of the USS Oyster Bay AGP-6

Hawk Graphics to the rescue!!

The great decals of the white hull letters and numbers are the icing on the cake!

I have yet to apply some Solvaset and a gloss clear coat.

This weekend was spent on davits and life raft baskets.

With the special davits from ISW's USCGC Campbell kit (Thanks, Jon!) I was able to add the supporting and operating structures to them to replicate the real thing.

Then, with some 1/700 PE items and chewing gum wrappers, I was able to replicate the CO2 inflatable life rafts and their baskets.

Hi Carl,

so this is what you have been doing lately. I just stumbled across the thread. Excellent model with the usual eye for detail! :thumbs_up_1:

Some additional touches to the PBM3 Mariner. I added the gun barrels, changed the fuselage decals to some larger ones, and added the cable antennas.

The bottom of the hull has been sanded flat in preparation for a landing diorama.

Modifications to the ISW USS Mackinac AVP-13 Seaplane Tender kit into a PT Boat Tender (AGP) continued, today, with modifications to the pilot house area.

The bridge on the AGPs only had 7 windows vs. 9 on the AVPs, so I fixed that.

The AVPs had a staggered O2 and O3 level at the pilot house door. The AGPs, didn't. So, I cut the pilot house off and sand the bottom of it as well as the O2 level's overhead. I then glued the pilot house back onto the its after compartment (Chart House?) with a styrene spacer.

The walkway around the front of the Pilot House didn't exist on AGPs and the Pilot House was moved foreward almost flush with the compartment below (Captain's Stateroom).

The 20mm gun sponsons on the O2 level are too, big and in the wrong place on the original kit. I have cut them off in preparation to create new and proper ones. I'll add PE bridge doors on the Pilot House, as well.

Motor Torpedo Boat Tender USS Oyster Bay AGP-6. I'd like to replicate this in a diorama with my model.
