Carl I think you're right about that being the Alfa flag; which is a fork tail. And, if I remember correctly you had to have divers in the water to fly it. In anchorage there would have been a standing maximum speed unless of course there was an emergency sortie.

Thanks, Chief!

Next to a Signalman, I'll take an OS's word everytime about such of a thing. I'm going with the Alpha flag, then, unless somebody else comes up with another opinion.

I just made the anchorage ball signal. I just keep amazing myself; if I may toot my own horn.

Carl,

Are you going to include that guy standing on the top mast platform? Wonder if he was smiling for the camera.

It had crossed my mind, Russ.

Be real careful with that "per plan" mentality Carl; see where it has gotten me and this is an old picture! I can't even begin to calculate how many hour I've spent installing all the bridge wing and 01 level bracing! And should I mention that I have been creating all the piping and venting that goes under those supports.....I have serious issues.....don't go there shipmate.

And this is just the starboard side.

Good modeling,
Bruce

Just a couple more stays to go and then the crane mast and antenna rigging.

Here is the at anchor signal ball. I used a small glass bead with the thread running through it and super glue to fill the hole. I went with the Alpha flag.

Hope the radar was tagged off, men aloft.

White hats were dyed dark blue for the work uniform at that time.

I'm mixing up the blue and white caps, Russ.

I've fashioned a blow torch bottle rack with a guy cutting the port aileron.

Neat detail!

This is shaping up to be a diorama where every time you look at it, you'll see some detail that you didn't notice before.

I have been looking for the dimensions of that *&$@!# mooring/marker buoy every way I can think of. I even found a drawing of it in a Department of Commerce publication, but no dimensions. So what did you use, the ever useful Mk 1 Mod 0 eyeball?
