Very sharp! I love Furutaka class and especially their earlier forms. Their main superstructure looks like one of those oriental pavilions in the gardens, so classical and elegant :thumbs_up_1:

Thanks for following :wave_1:
I made a resign bag blast for 203mm guns:

should be OK. I'm happy - since first trial was ended somehow like this:

And made a macrophoto of 25mm double AA units. I believe I solved the most irritating issue of PE 25mm AA sets - flat looking barrels:

I have some ideas to improve it a bit more... I will make more adjustments. For sure IJN Kirishima will recieve better guns :)

That superstructure is crisp and clean, certainly one advantage of metal. Nice.

Have you ever considered the FineMolds Nanodread 25mmAA? Those are nice. And not 2D.

I ordered new release of those...
They are nice indeed... The issue here is the price :(.
For the price of one set of nanodread I can etch more than 100 units from brass...
Assembling of metal sets is quite easy: 6 bendings, 4 glue points and done.

Anyway will make some macropho to share two units next to each other.

Thanks for watching :wave_1:

The bridge is a delight Greg :thumbs_up_1: its truly one remarkable P.E set. Question, when you are done with Kako are you going to sell the patent of the set to one of the big companies or are you thinking in joining the competition?

I understand about price. Given your expertise with custom PE, I applaud you for your efforts.

thanks for following...

I painted the deck

Image

it doesn't look but I did some post shading to express weared areas

Image

Image

I will emboss them by oils a bit more

And I scraped off to expose bras bars

Image

Image

deck glued down - ready for railing

Image

Image

deck is a bit narrowed by definition. It's a place when railing goes down in order to achive vertical and horizontal flat surfaces

have a nice weekend...
Greg

Well... I'm not preparing any manual for that. And I'm not even sure if there is an interest for such kind of set....

You, sir, set a benchmark for 700 scale models.

Hello Greg

for me ,which is preferable, this is to not use varnish Valleyo, but that of Mr Color or Tamiya (acrylic) 25 years no grubbing :-D
otherwise, good work it is on track to do something superb
regards
Nicolas

If I were attempting to fix that. Theres silvering as air is under some of the broken varnish as well as the brass showing and the missing varnish itself to fix. . Id use some solvent. Damp a 000 brush in some methylated spirit( Valejo isnt it?) and its contact will re constitute the varnish. when it sets it will be ok again so silvering sorted.. Id take that opportunity to thin it out a bit over the area so there isnt a step effect while Im at it.

I would touch up the scratches on the linoleum showing the brass . Then finally a airbrush touch up with the varnish over the whole thing . Since youve sorted the step effect a final coat should have unified everything.

Just my 10c :)

This model is just incredible!
The level of detail is mind-boggling and the execution is perfect beyond the possibilities of human dexterity.
I wish I could design and manufacture my own PE...
although, alas, I don't think I would be able to reach your level anyway.
Very, very impressive!

Not many ppl around here are avid creating P.E sets or have the resources to do so other than the companies we buy from ofcourse. I think you are really good at it and its pretty unique what you have created here. Greg i understand is for personal and fun use but if you ever decide to go for it and sell your creations i'll be happy to buy from you because so far i like what i've seen! Your dedication for improvement is inspiring too. keep it up :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Thank you Jose :wave_1:

Small update:
Deck fittings on the way...
I made vents. Like all IJN cruisers unbelivable number of vents. I counted 32...

Small progress but a lot of job.

I the meantime I designed deck winches:

And still about 100 grams of bras ahead of me.... to be done.
