Used the modified hull of the Revell Calypso kit. Pilot house, vents, davits, sweep winches, just about everything else scratch built. Used 3"/50 from White Ensign, 20 mm's from Revell LSM; oval life rafts. 20 mm ready service lockers from HR Products. The old Lindberg Minesweeper provided the sweeping floats and some motors for the sweeping winch.

Sorry about the poor quality cell phone pics. Will try to take better photos another day and also post some of my USS Pirate (AM-275) built from the Lindberg Minesweeper kit.

I missed this on its initial posting.

Considering what this kit looks like out of the box compared to the finished product.

Absolutely stunning.

Stunning is an understatement. Exquisite build, particularly given the starting point.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Just took a few years to get decent photos rather than my ones from a cell phone. Another of those "i'll never do that again" builds.

Another bump in memory of D-Day and Operation Neptune. 80 years ago this night, YMS-347 and her sister ships swept the approaches to Omaha and other beaches in Normandy.

Fantastic job. So would this sort of be like "back dating" the Calypso to her original intent?

Thanks Jim. Yes-but not a lot of Calypso left! Had purchased the Revell more recent re-release as the Ocean Exploration Vessel for the project, but then lucked into a glue bomb at a hobby shop in Memphis. Was much happier working on the $5 glue bomb rather than the complete kit. Might actually build the Calypso one day.
