And this is the last of my small series of liberty ships. I build the Trumpeter Jeremiah O Brien when it first came out in 2009 with the limited changes needed for a Soviet Union version.
The idea was to combine it with a Gearing class kit in order to replicate the classic LIFE picture series of Ivan Pulzunov being intercepted by USS Vesole at the end of the Cuba crisis.
This turned out to be impossible as the only 1/700 kit that could be taken as a starting point, by Skwave, had major hull and superstructure mistakes which are not really correctable.
For the time being I put her on base with an old tug I still had and took her to ESM this november.
And I have ordered a new Snowman USS Gearing so if than turns out to be buildable you may see this model again somewhere next year.
This build of O Brien was simple compared to most of my projects. I had lots of fun raiding the spares box for truck and containers. The missiles themselves were basic styrene rods as the warheads seem to have been transported on a different ship.
