I love it! I had a friend who served on the Howe during WWII. I still have a newsletter from the Howe Association. He died several years ago. He was a Canadian who served in the Royal Navy. Claude was his name. He was originally stationed on the Hood of all ships, but caught pneumonia and was transferred off in the spring of 1941! He served on the Howe in the Med. |

Chris how did you remove the ship from the previous sea? Gloss medium should have been one with the ship! |

Well, 're-done' sea is misnomer. I didn't like the colour of it so I carefully went and re-painted all the dark blue areas up to the cotton points and blended it so it has a soft edge. I added a lot more cotton as well. Just tweaked it really |

Thanks.... I find the color of the sea and sub-surface churn to be super important. It's a very very specific color that the brain recognizes immediately. When it's wrong or slightly off, it bugs the hell out of me! Plus, all my ships have more or less the same coloring to the sea, so they're becoming a set. If one's off, it looks strange with the rest of them. These images are bang-on the colours I strive for. The sea is thalo blue+white+a touch of black. The aquamarine churn is out of the bottle turquoise to which I add some white, and a touch of black to grey it down. I've tried dozens of different colours, and for me this recipe seems to work the best. I actually went back and changed my Titanic to this color as well. I can't leave well enough alone it seems. Sorry for this kind of thread necroing but I want to get into building models of ships because of your works. Most realistic water I have seen so far, love it! And the ship of course. ![]() |

That is a beautifully done sea, it really looks the part. You can almost feel the motion of the ship and taste the sea spray blowing over the deck. A work of art to be proud of. Many thanks too for posting the tutorials and sharing your methods used. |
