This is something I started in 2007 when I was very bad at making models...so there are a lot of imperfections in assembly. I left it mostly built for eleven years. I thought it would be better to finish this than trash it. I took some of it apart and did my best clean up seam lines and sprue attachment points on the built model. I tried to use up my scrap PE railings and went with the kit with all the other parts. Not the best work in the world I'll admit but I am very pleased with the result of this recovery. I feel like I built confidence working in this smaller scale and improved my ability to work with fine details in a relaxed manner. Also, I've begun to make a transition from silk thread for rigging to a mixture of silk and stretched sprue. Kept thing simple to keep on track with finished this so the rigging complexity is minimal. DavidP wrote: are those kit quad 40mm's & 20mm's or 3rd party? These are the kit's guns. The 40mm I liked well enough, although I had to carefully sand between the barrels to remove the mold seam. The 20mm has the shield mounted too low I think but I wasn't going to replace them... |
