Base Kit: 1/350 Trumpeter HMS KENT
Conversion Kit: Kraken
Armament & uncovered boats: MicroMaster
Paints: All SMS
Modeled as she was days before her loss at the battle of Savo Island.
On joining the USN taskforce to cover the landings at Guadalcanal and Tulagi the disruptive camouflage scheme was overpainted with 'Chicago Blue' an Australian copy of the scheme used on USS CHICAGO, photos taken at the time show the disruptive scheme showing through the worn top coat.
The photo I used as a reference showed the 35' Cutter pulling away from the CANBERRA on an errand so I have the port davits and scrambling net deployed and the Cutter on its own base so I could include it in the scene, this is also a test piece for ocean dioramas. The Kraken conversion replaces all structures above the weather deck and is very extensive with some lovely detail and added scratch built masts and davits.
The stand is Jarrah wood, bunnings cabinet corners, pedestals are cut down .50cal cartridges and the lettering is laser-cut 5mm MDF painted brass (the font is what is on Navy hat Tallybands). Vignette is hobby clay and SMS paint coated with PVA wash. I have added a British Mk9 SLT as a feature.

This is my second model ship and first with resin, 3D-Print and other aftermarket products, I'm happy with the result.
