My first 1:700 scale build, this is an inexpensive Five Star Models resin and PE kit of IJN submarine chaser No. 53. The kit parts are decently molded, and there are several extras of many of the PE parts, but the instructions are terrible, consisting only of photos of a built-up, but unpainted model with part-number callouts. Not all of the parts shown in the photos have callouts, and some of the un-numbered parts are not included in the kit, while some of the numbered parts on the PE parts frets are not shown anywhere in the instructions, and are apparently not used on the model. Neither decals, nor rigging and painting guides are included in the kit.
I rigged the model with Infini lycra rigging thread, and added a few Five Star Models 3D printed figures to the deck. I decided to display the tiny model on a scratch-built sea base, shown having just launched a depth charge at the submarine. The sea color and the submarine's shadow were painted in acrylic on a piece of MDF, and then texture was added with Modpodge and Mig Ultra Glue, which are both just acrylic gel mediums of different viscosities. Foam and whitecaps were painted on after the texture had dried.

1:700 scale was quite a challenge for me, but the satisfaction of actually working through the building process, and completing the model, is enormous.
