The latest of my 'Little Projects'. Unofficially I call it The Big Man's Little Boat

The whole thing was inspired and loosely based on few pictures of Big Man  I found on the Net:

Imagine the propaganda value in the DPRK for this diorama! Wow! Brilliantly rendered. A show stopper in my mind.

I really like it. A little bit of humor in a seriously well done model.

Fantastic! Makes me want to pick up one of those kits, too.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
It's nice little kit, only downside of it is the fact it comes without PE, so dive into spare box I a must.

Having bought this same kit and painted it as a Soviet Romeo class, its fun to see it rendered in another navy format. Your water is very beautiful, do you have a how-to on making a base like this? I feel like in this size id like to give it a go.

Not much to it. It's sculpting clay on piece of MDF:

Waves. Are just formed with fingers and the little wavelets I made with tool dentists use for forming fillings. It's basically a little ball in a handle. I've seen people doing it with a padlock (curved rod part of it).
After that just painted with sea-ish color. The trick is to spray lighter tone from the front going with the airbrush parallel to the surface. That gives the nice 3D effect. After that the usual Liquitex thick and thin, finished with cotton foam, enhanced here and there AK product called Water Foam.
Sorry i have no other pictures of stages of it, as it doesn't take long. Cleaning the airbrush probably took longer than the painting itself

Some close ups:

A most splendid build! I had seen some pictures already on "a social network" and stood in awe before such a beautiful model. The above closeups do full justice to the amazing work you did both with the sub and the seascape. Congrats! :thumbs_up_1:

PS i love Kim's little portrait standing on the tower, arms crossed

Absolutely superb! And when you added that match stick for size reference, this build just went through the roof. You really captured that scene from the pictures you had with the water effects.
