Hello everyone!
I would like to share some photos of my latest model, the HMS Agincourt during the Battle of Jutland. This is the Flyhawk kit with the Chuanyu lower hull. That lower hull was only used as a base for work because the rudder and shafts were very basic. The paint was done using Sovereign Hobbies paints and the deck with Tamiya Lacquers "pre-shading" different planks with pencil. The photoetch details are from the Flyhawk kit and from Shipyard Works, which it is very extensive and complete. There are also some 3D printed parts, which are nearly all the square vents, since the ones molded on the deck were not sharp enough. The derrick is also 3D printed because the one from the kit had some ugly sinkholes and was too thick. To prevent it from deforming or bending, it was printed as a tube and then a metal rod was inserted. Other 3D printed parts are the searchlights, capstans, bollards, and small deck and bridge details. The masts are nickel silver tubes from Albion Alloys.
The main challenge in this ship was the cage aerials, but following David Griffith book, I could complete them in a separate jig and then transferring them to the ship. This was done using elastic thread and Snowman photoetched cage aerial rings. These ones have a nice notch where the thread can snap in place and then glued with matte transparent paint. I think they look OK.
