I was thinking(I know, that will get me in trouble!)Would a carrier based on the TITANIC hull be a believable what if? I thought about it because I have about three ships worth of those cute little clear plastic bi-planes from ,I guess, the TRUMPETER carriers. They were in a bunch of flea market bags I bought.I know that this is far fetched but I think it would make a good what if? ship.I have taken the ROBT.E LEE and converted it to a car ferry so what,s the diff? Does anyone have an opinion as to whether I am nuts or not.? I saw pics of the GRAFF ZEPPELIN aircraft carrier and that is what gave me this crazy idea. Oh, by the way anyone who goes to REVELL,S GERMAN site, I,ve got a question for you.Look at the pics closely, now, where,s the bridge?? I turned that picture set every which way but loose and couldn,t find one!Think on that one and let me know,ok ? commodore4

I think its a great idea, the Japinese were always ripping the arse out of varied ships converting them into everything from cruiser liner into oiler, heavy-cruiser into carrier, imagine the space within the hull for spare aircraft, on the question of Revell, they have a department X which although seem a little funny, if you catch them right, they're a fantastic help, I brought a model no instructions, placed a request here on this board, nothing, did the same on the other site, bugger all, found department X by mistake while looking for something else and 4 days later they requested my home address ---------- Revell Department X ----------

Not a crazy Idea at all. The first aircraft carrier in the world with a flush, fulll length flight deck, HMS Argus, was converted from the partly built liner Conti Rosso, and I believe the Japanese had at least one Liner Converted into a Carrier, again I believe they were takne over before launching.

A hull like the Titanic would have great posibilities. I presume refitting with oil fired boilers & turbines would be part of the deal, as trunking the uptakes with the ship's "as built configuration would be "Interesting" to say the least, and take up quite a bit of internal space, also coaling facilities. I could envisage somithing similar to Glorious / Courageous coming out of that.

Good luck, i think it could be a fun project.

Si
