What if starting in the WWI time frame, the world realized that there were newer possibilities for their Fleets, not just bigger guns or bigger carriers, but for those cruisers, destroyers, and etc. Anything. How would that have had an effect on WWII, Korea, Vietnam, or everything. Just keep in mind though - with huge carrier forces in WWII (larger forces than at the end, and bigger ships), there would not have been an atom bomb used, probably the manhatten project discontinued, and the world left without the nuclear propulsion. Other than no gasoline or diesel for anyone of us now, how would this have effected the strategies, designs, and overall modern Maritime Forces?
