anyone use shipcamouflage.com for ref. ?
this quote is from them regarding deck color and it is totally unclear to me

" Wood decks except on submarines and carriers shall be darkened to the color Deck Blue. Deck Blue paint shall be used in lieu of stain for this purpose. "
this answer comes on all measures of camo and to me it does not tell what color the aircraft carrier decks s/b
and to complicate it i have seen pictures of modelson line and at model shows with diff color decks

thanks

It's been awhile but I recall aircraft carrier decks being stained with I Fight Deck Stain 250-N for the early stages of the war. I believe around the early months of 1943 was when the switch was made to Flight Deck Stain 21. That is when the Essex class started to appear. Some one can correct me if I am wrong.

Lex wore Fight Deck Stain 250-N on her flight deck in 1942.

250-N is pretty dark as new. Doubt it would take long to fade under the Pacific sunshine though?
