What colors were used for the dark and light gray on the Type XXI subs - is it Hellgrau 50 and Dunkelgrau 51, or some other combination?

Related - What gray should I use for a type VIIb (u-47 or u-99 perhaps)?

Some b/w images do show a quite light colour, while on others it appears darker. I tend towards the lighter version. The darker version could as well having been 'Schlickgrau 58' - I read somewhere that most shipyards applied this before delivery and that the final colour depended on the sub's mission or area of operation.

The underwater hull was painted in neither of the three. This one was 'Schiffsbodenfarbe III Grau 1' (RAL 7016).

I'm not sure about the Kretschmer-boat but I read that Prien's boat was painted in 'Schlickgrau 58' prior its last sortie.
Underwater hull, as mentioned above: RAL 7016

Happy painting ~ Olaf!

Thanks Olaf. Picked up the AFV 1/350 kit. Just want to do something simple "out of the box" to get the modeling juices recharged.
