Great Job Mark, I was gonna build Randolph in that camo, i should have researched first before adding Stbd side 40mm sponsons, Oops  Guess it will be Hancock.

Happy Modeling

John

She was the only on that wore it so it is unique. That kit will work for Hancock as well for the later fit. I have to go play navy for the week but I will be starting the surgery on the Ticonderoga when I get back.

Interesting Mark! I didn't know the Randolph was the only one to use that camo
Now go play Navy & we'll be waiting for surgery to commence :heh: :heh:

CV-20 USS Bennington was actually commisioned in 32-17A-1 but was soon repainted to the 32-17A-2,
CV-15 USS Randolph was in 32-17A-1 for about 3 months,

17A-1 used 6 colors 5-P, 5-L, 5-H, 5-O, 5-N and Dull Black,

17-A-2 used/reduced to 3 colors, 5-H, 5-O and 5-N.

I have not found evidence of any other scheme using 6 colors, makes for a unique model.

USS Randolph later changed to MS-21 and also became first carrier to have white flightdeck numerals.

Be safe Mark

Happy Modeling

John

Hiya Guys,
Starfighter Decals 700-70 The Essex class Super Set should be available this coming week, This set will cover the 27A produced by ISW and the 27C/125 from Ships and Co, all the carrier names, Elevator markings, Flightdeck and Island numbers in many styles plus lots more. Time to put the finishing touches to my 27A, I have ordered my decals, I need to decide how many more 27A to build.

Happy modeling

John

Count me in!

I am currently rebuilding the USS Constellation CV-64 that I made which was trashed into shambles months ago. I think this model is quite better than the previous one, and there is lots of room for deatiling.

..........gtb, here's the 'prise!!

Have you ever wondered why there's a silver Christmas light cord sticking out of the stern?......

That's why!

The hangar deck is lighted using Christmas lights which are so darn cheap! ($2.75). they didn't have white ones so I used the yellow one. It has an airwong of one SH-60 helicopter, F-14C and D Hornets, and a SB2 Viking.

All machinery, tow tractors, and cargo are made out of ERASERS!!

I also added 2 lights on the stern.

More to come soon!

Thanks,

hey Ed, YUP! I'm alive than ever this month!!!

gtb, thanks for the tip, but there's actually no need to place stiffiners under the flight deck since it's made of 4mm thick cardboard.

My ONLY problem is the airwing. I have Hornets and Tomcats here, but The planes I lack are the EA-6B Prowlers, E2C Hawkeyes and S2 Vikings. If anyone has the mentioned planes in 1/350, I'd be happy to hear.

Oh, and mitchell, You have a very major project coming up!! will you be adding photoetching?

Thanks,
Nick
