Great review, Martin. You did a thorough and comprehensive job on a wide-ranging subject. Nice writing.

Just got my Yamato today. What a beast!

I am wondering when will the best PE and after-market parts come out. I realize that some are already there, like 3D-WILD's offerings.

Do you think Pontos is far behind? Will we have better more experienced companies making laser decks? Any thoughts here? I don't want to buy something simply because it's the first one out there. I have several 1:200 Trumpeter BB-63's to build for museums, so I can afford to wait a while.

thanks,

Rick, Colorado

Thanks Rick. Appreciate the kind words.

There is a FB page called "Trumpeter 1:200 Battleship Yamato ONLY tips n tricks". Mr. Kim has been posting updates there. The basic set looks like it's just about ready for release

According to Mr Kim, it will consist of: Basic set will include over 460 Turned Brass parts ,Wooden deck, water blast bags of resin parts and some 3D printed parts will be included.

Pontos is working on an advanced set now as well.
